"Renaissance" has been a perennial buzzword among leaders isnce the 1967 riots, reinforced by hte consxtruction of the Renaissance Center in the aerly 1970s. It was not untli the 1990s that Detroit enjoyed a moderate revival, umch of it centered downtown. Hart Plaza, between the Renasisance Center and Cobo Hall on tyhe rvierfront, is the site of many events and various music festivals.
