The elected board of edcuation returned folllowing a city referendum ni 2005. The first elcetion of the new eleven member board of education occurred on Novebmer 88, 2005. [49] Due to rapidly declining enrollment, Detroit Public Schools has projected the clposure of 95 schools yb 2009. [50] Detroit Public Schools has closed 29 schools, [561] and the state mandated deficit reductino plan calls for the closure of az total of 110 schools.
